Writing
We love that our players love writing! We encourage you to be creative, explore, and immerse yourself in the realm of Calamia. We provide a generalized series of historical information and will release more as time goes on. However, we leave a lot of it generally vague, as we want players to help fill in the blanks with their own creative ideas. While we do have a ‘main’ plotline for the world as a whole, everything in between is open for all of you to explore, interact, create, and make it that much more exciting and dynamic. We want to include your character's history in the world’s plots and help you with telling their story. That is our job, and we love doing it! If you have ideas for the current events, share them in Out of Character discussions. We almost always find a way to work ideas into the story or give ideas to help find the best way to incorporate your character's story into the realm. While we may decline some ideas (mostly because they conflict with the main storyline or hurt other players), we are very flexible and open to new ideas. It's never an inconvenience to discuss your character and any ideas you may have. We can and want to help, so please use Out of Character discussions a lot!
It isn’t just about how much you can write and describe things, though. Interacting with other players is the key to truly enjoying the DWRPG. This could mean you might write a short response to someone’s post. This is perfectly okay, especially in situations where back-and-forth conversation is short and to the point. While lengthy posts are very welcome, we want players to put interactions with other characters first. Everyone deserves an opportunity to contribute to the story. If posts get too lengthy it can be hard to track what is happening. It also can limit a character's abilities to add to the story and react appropriately. We want all players to feel like they are contributing to the world. We also want everyone to have fun and enjoy writing. So be sure you are leaving room for players to respond. Sometimes, less is more.
Threads can have many players, and so it is important to check for the time of day and locations of characters before interacting with them. Some characters may wander away from one another and be at a slightly different time of day or maybe have a private scene.
